Author Interview ~ Nicole Morgan

Today on the couch we have an author from my crit group. I'm so glad she's able to come and let us torture her... ahem... let us hang out with her. Our guest author is Nicole Morgan. Let's all make her feel welcome!

Good morning, Nicole, it's so great to have you here with us day. Let's go ahead and get started: How did you come up with the title?

Actually I come up with all of my titles the same way. I think of keywords that kind of explain certain emotions that (I hope) the book conveys. Then after I have quite a bit written down I just play with them until something works.

Very clever girl! I can never make them work for me. If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

AJ Llewellyn, because on more than one occasion he has shown me that it is possible to juggle a million balls in the air and still stay true to yourself and be a person that others may look up to.

Oh, isn't AJ so sweet? I adore him and his philosophy of life and writing. Do you see writing as a career?

Yes. My dream is to one day live on my writing and the joy I get from doing it.

Isn't that the dream of most writers? Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?

I do a lot of traveling on the information superhighway known as the internet. LOL. I do most of my research that way.

I find it's the best place for research and you imagination can fill in the rest! Do you have any advice for other writers?

Yes I would say above all else, try to stay positive and focused. What one person loves others may hate and vice versa. Keep in mind your goals and don’t give up until you’ve satisfied yourself.

Good advice! What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I have a tendency to write blind. I don’t plan anything out, but rather let the story tell itself.

Ahhhh another pantser like myself. When did you write your first book and how old were you?

I was 8 years old. It was called Cave In.

Funny how early it starts. How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

At the time of this interview I have written 6 books. I love them all, but my favorite so far was probably Sweet Salvation.

And now for the "nothing-to-do-with-writing" questions: What animal do you think makes the best pet and why?

Well, I love my two dogs, so I would have to go with that. I have a Black Lab/Aussie Shepherd mix (who is my protector) and a Rottweiller (who is a giant teddy bear)

They sound like gorgeous dogs. Do you have any strange handwriting habits, like capitalizing all your “r”s or dotting your “I”s with heart (or anything like that)?

Sort of, but this is a typing habit. It is so strange though I had to share it. I bet I have the weirdest one yet. I don’t do this with any other word, but for some reason if I am on a roll and typing fast I almost always type ‘was’ for ‘saw’ and vice versa. It’s strange I know and only seems to happen with those two words.

LOL, I've done that before, I thought I was the only one who did that. When you looked in the mirror this morning, what was the first thing you thought?

Oh Dear God!

LOL, common reaction. What were you doing at midnight last night?

LOL ~ No Comment. Next question please.

Now see, you shouldn't have said that...now I'm so curious I'm ready to burst! Have you ever cried during a movie? If yes, which one and why?

Yes I have and your blog is not long enough to list them all. A few that stand out are Remember The Titans, The Notebook and We are Marshall.

Never saw The Notebook, but the others made me cry too. What is your favorite pizza?

Spinach…mmm yummy.

If you could wish for anything, what would you wish for?

It sounds so simple, but I would love for people to stop hurting each other, both physically and emotionally. There’s too much pain in this world.

Well, that's all for today. Thanks so much for hanging out with us today. It was great fun having you here.

Nicole will be giving away a copy of her newest release to one lucky person who leaves a comment. Sooooooo... let her know what you think and you just might win!

Intimate Persuasions by Nicole Morgan

Ann moved to Oakdale for a fresh start, and when she met Quinn, a sexy cowboy, she instantly fell for him. Unable to deny herself the need to have him, she gives in to a secret fantasy, only to fear their relationship will end before it truly starts.

Quinn soon realizes Ann means more to him than he ever could have imagined. He feels a connection with her that's much deeper than physical, but he has secret desires he keeps to himself, afraid to scare her with what he wants most.

Will they find a way to show each other their true selves and finally love each other completely? And if so, will Ann give him a part of herself she has given to no man before?

Hey Nicole - I'm curious to know how you manage to stay focused when you are writing on a series? Is is difficult to keep the stories straight for the sequels? Do you plan out all parts of the various stories before starting on the first one? I guess I'm interested because that seems to be a particularly difficult challenge for me. I'm much happier writing the single stories than sequels :) And in case I didn't mention it - I have loved all of your books so far :) Looking forward to the newest one.

Nicole, nice to meet you! All those movies made me cry, too, and the strange thing is, I don't even like sports movies, LOL. IP sounds fantastic -- I love the blurb!
