Monday Author Interview with Paloma Beck!

Today I’d like to welcome my friend Paloma Beck to the couch. She’s here to talk about her latest book and answer our decadent questions. So let’s get on with the interview. Hi Paloma! How are you? Why don’t you describe yourself in three words.

Closeted Erotic Author. In everyday life, I am just the average mom of three boys. I drive carpool, volunteer in PTA and teach religious education. Most people wouldn’t believe it if I told them what I write. In fact, those who’ve found out –because they read the naughty things I write- were shocked at first that I even read erotic romance, forget write it!

Hee hee. It’s always fun to mix things up. We do it here all the time. Cast your book. Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie and why!

Isla Fischer would be the perfect Layla. That sweet look of innocence is perfect. Joe Manganiello could be Madden. Definitely dominant, he exudes dark and dangerous. Bradley Cooper could be Anton. Handsome but in a less hunk/ more tender way.

Oh, you’ve named two of my man weaknesses. I’m all in for that. Where do I sign? What’s your favorite love scene from a movie?

Mmm… there’s this scene when Anton is playing the piano while he and Layla are waiting for Madden to come home. I’ve included the photo that inspired the scene and how about a snippit from that scene too…

Anton’s music grew louder and louder—the gentle rhythm gone—and Madden responded in kind. His teeth brushed over her clit, before his lips closed fully and sucked it into his mouth until Layla screamed out in agonized pleasure. Her screams were eaten up by the music as her orgasm was eaten by Madden. His tongue gently licked away her orgasm and she melted, no longer able to hold herself up on her elbows she lay down on the top of Anton’s piano.

It was only a moment before she felt Madden lift her. She didn’t open her eyes, too relaxed to do more than enjoy the afterglow. Her skin was slick with sweat, sated yet still a hunger swirled inside. The memory of Anton watching her orgasm wouldn’t let her go.

Shock caused her eyes to fly open as Madden placed her on Anton’s lap, directly onto his fully erect, unclothed cock. That’s when she realized he no longer played. She sank onto him slowly as Madden continued to support her. The room was silent—the lack of sound almost eerie after the room had been filled with music.

Nicely hot! What’s your wildest fantasy?

To be Layla. I think I’m only half kidding – what woman wouldn’t want what she gets? Two incredible men available to her, committed to meeting her every need, sexy as hell, stronger than the average man with incredible stamina. Yea, sign me up for that!

Hee hee. A man with stamina... Wish they were all like that. If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?

My sense of smell. I’ve heard you tend to eat less because you can’t smell it – that’s one diet plan I could stick with!

Makes sense. Grin. What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

I read Judy Blume’s Forever after my dad –a Baptist Deacon/ Preacher- forbade it. And life was never the same again. No, he never did find out but my whole addiction to romance books took flight from that book.

And now for the hard questions. Yes, the ones that are fast and funny! The Quickies:
Boxers or Briefs?

Boxer briefs.

Top or Bottom?

Bottom.

Pajamas or nude?

Nude.

Hairy chests or smooth?

Hairy.

Alpha or Beta?

Alpha.

Here’s a little about the book:

Monday Author Interview with Taryn Raye

My friend and fellow author Taryn Raye is here with us today and I’m excited. She’s got some great answers and I can’t wait to share them with you all. Now, Taryn, describe yourself in three words.

Prolific, Funny, Dreamer

Good choices. How about a hard question. Cast your book. Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie and why.

I envisioned a very young Kate Beckinsale as Catherine, my innocent sweet heroine, especially how she looked in Much Ado About Nothing, but with red hair and blue eyes.

As Dawson began to take shape in my mind, he started to favor James Scott, who played EJ Dimera on Days of Our Lives. At the time I was writing Castaway Hearts, I was watching DOOL and there was a storyline where he was also playing his “grandfather” Santos Dimera in flashbacks. (That’s where the black and white photo came into play, with the mustache, and best fits what Dawson looks like to me. Of course, the other images of James Scott are simply yummy, too.)

I had also cast Orlando Bloom (ala Pirates) as Dawson’s ill-fated younger sailor brother, Nathaniel.

I haven’t seen a soap opera in so long, but those male choices are definitely hot. Good ones! Since we’re talking about hot, what’s your favorite love scene from a movie?

Wow. I guess one of my favorite love scenes would be from The Notebook. Passion that intense is usually a once in a lifetime thing, but it’s also one that runs deep and true over an entire lifetime. But then there’s also the scene from Far and Away- only a kiss or two, but when Shannon and Joseph break into that home on Christmas and she asks him to “pretend you love me.” It is one of the most sensual scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie.

Yes, it was a sensual scene. I almost forgot about it. Grin. What’s your wildest fantasy?

In all honesty? A weekend away with just my husband. No, really. If he and I could have an entire weekend, tucked away in a room with a Jacuzzi to just enjoy each other and spend time connecting on a level we don’t normally get to express with kids in the house, maybe snuggled close in front of a fireplace afterward on a snowy night…that would be absolute heaven.

Nothing wrong with wanting time with the DH. Trust me, I’d love a tryst with mine if I could get him to take the time off work. If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?

If I had to give up one willingly, I guess it would be my sense of taste. I love food a little too much as it is, so I could do without the taste buds as I’d still be able to smell the food, which might make up for it and give me a false sense of “flavor” when I eat. Giving up smell would actually take away the sense of taste as well, so I wouldn’t want to lose 2-in-1. I enjoy the beauty of nature and the smiles on my loved ones faces too much to give up sight. To never hear “I love you” or my children’s laughter again wouldn’t do either and the human touch matters a great deal so you don’t burn yourself or cut yourself without realizing it until you’ve bled all over the place. Yeah, taste it would have to be.

Hmm. Never thought about the smell/taste being a 2-in-1 like you mention. Food for thought. Grin. What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

I was rather bookworm-ish growing up and didn’t really get into a lot of trouble, though there was the time I accidentally slammed my little sister’s fingers in a car door, which was already locked. She had to wait until one of the grown-ups- I believe it was my oldest uncle, unlocked it before she could get her hand out. Luckily, she didn’t have any broken fingers because of it. She was more apt to be trouble though- breaking glass jugs full of water on the basement floor when she was trying to be “helpful,” cutting her hand open with one of our dad’s wood chisels, it was always something.

Goodness, sounds like she was a pill. Now me, I’m a perfect angel. Well, wait. No, I write erotic romance. Never mind. I’m wonderfully wicked. Speaking of wicked, it’s time for my favorite part of the interview... The Quickies! Fast, loose and always fun!

Boxers or Briefs?

Boxers- gives the boys a little breathing room.

Snicker! Love it. Top or Bottom?

Top. A control thing, I suppose, for that hint of Mistress hiding beneath my pristine surface.

Ahh! See! I thought I saw a whip in your back pocket! Pajamas or nude?

Nude- clothing chokes, constrains and gets in the way.

Good thing I’m not drinking anything. I’d have snorted it out my nose. Love it! Hairy chests or smooth?

Smooth, though a little hair doesn’t hurt- just not full-on Robin Williams…ugh. If I want a bear skin rug, I’ll buy one.

Yeah, the Robin Williams look does nothing for me. Alpha or Beta?

Either. I don’t mind a man who knows what he wants and makes sure I know it, too, but I also like the idea of a gentle sensitive poetic soul, as well...

Awww. Nice. Now, if you want to know more about Taryn’s book Castaway Hearts, here’s the Blurb

Twice orphaned, Catherine Barrett arrives in Virginia a stranger to her closest kin and secretly engaged to the one man her family would disapprove of- her seafaring grandfather’s apprentice. Add to her troubles, the rich and intriguing older brother of her secret betrothed, Dawson Randolph, a plantation owner who is as heartless as he is handsome. Heartbroken when her intended sets sail for his maiden voyage, Catherine finds it difficult to adjust to her new life, hoping to befriend the one man who is, undoubtedly, the match her grandparents wish for her. Dawson’s distaste for her secret engagement to his brother makes it clear he has no designs for marriage to anyone. Especially her.

Ten years since the tragic loss of his young wife and infant son, Dawson Randolph is convinced love and marriage is a fool’s game and resents being pardon to his brother’s hidden engagement. Damned by his instant attraction and his own growing desire, Dawson vows to befriend her against his better judgment. Determined to bring her happiness in a time of fear and uncertainty, Dawson puts aside his animosity to become her confidant, only to realize Catherine holds the key to his heart. When tragedy strikes at sea, Catherine’s guilt pushes Dawson to the fringes of her life as madness consumes her.

Can his love save her before she drowns in her own grief? Or is he doomed to love her from a distance, always in the shadow of her love for his dead brother?

And because you know you want more of Taryn, here are her links!

A romantic at heart, my love of storytelling began in childhood with the typical fairytales and my membership at age 10 to the Just for Girls Book Club. I grew up on classics and contemporary tales, but it wasn’t long before my tastes also matured as I ventured into my mother’s stash of Harlequins and Silhouettes, too. Born and raised in a small town in Central Kentucky, I now reside in the southern part of the state with my husband, stepson, daughter and my mischief-making cat named Miscellaneous, aka Mizzy.

Castaway Hearts is available in eBook & print from my publisher-

Monday Author Interview with Changeling Press Publisher Margaret Riley

Hi Megan, Shelby Morgen here.

Welcome to Menagerie Authors, Shelby! So glad you stopped by.

Thanks for having me. This looks like fun!

It’s always fun. And yes, we’ve had our shots. Just a reminder, please don't give us one word answers -- be verbose!

OMG, you have to tell authors that? hangs head. So sad… You know me. You're more likely to have to tell me to shut up. PC, of course. “Hey, M, I had to trim this just a little (Only 90% this time) to fit the slot, hope you don't mind…” ROFL.

Nah. No worries. We like chatty Cathies here. Describe yourself in three words.

Wait. You said I had to NOT be brief. OK, fine. Gregarious. Fierce. Disorganized.

I did say to be chatty. That’s the only short answer question. Muwhaha. I’ll find more that are longer. Like...cast your book. Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie and why?

I am SOO bad at this. Well, OK. Megan Fox, not Michael J. /snicker

She’s got a great body and those eyes! What's your favorite love scene from a movie?

Antonio Banderas. Angelina Jolie. Original Sin -- the entire movie is one long love scene.

Oh, yes. Yes. I agree. Speaking of sexy...what's your wildest fantasy?

The Northlanders -- all 14 or so books - get made into a made for TV Mini series and I get to direct. Right after I spend like 2 years learning how to create DGI special effects at Full Sail University on a full ride. In my spare time I get to keep writing and publishing…

Coolio. I’d watch it. If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?

Oh, man, that's hard. Authors live by our senses. I'd say hearing -- I was deaf for a couple of years as a child, so I know I could handle it. (I've still got a small hearing loss, but generally only for men -- other than my husband -- who want something…) But if my hearing got a lot worse I'd be first in line for the cochlear implant.

I’ll ask your DH and see what he says. I bet he says you play deaf really well. Mine sure does. What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

Hehe. Pretended I was still deaf whenever it was convenient… and no, I don't still do that. Really. I'm sorry. What did you say?

See? I’m asking Bill. Oh well. Now the next few questions are what we at the Menagerie call the Quickies. Fast, hard, and so much fun!

Starting with...Boxers or Briefs?

Either -- I don't care which he's wearing. They all come off.

Very true. Top or Bottom?

Yes. LOL

Oh! So that answer works for that question. And yes, when I see :Sex? Yes. On the cover art request, I think of Austin Powers. Next question. Pajamas or nude?

Bare skin, please

Hairy chests or smooth?

Smooth (See, I CAN give one word answers!)

Finally, someone like me. I’m sorry. I cannot handle a guy who is a rug. Alpha or Beta? Me?

Or him? Alpha, in either case.

Hee hee. That’s funny. The one I want being alpha is Gerard Butler. He has to do a lot of talking.

Thanks Megan! This was fun

Always fun to have you here!

And now a little bit about FOXY!!

Foxy: Fandango, the first book in the Multi Author series, Foxy.

Last Chance, Alaska. State Park, Wildlife preserve, small town. Population: 1479 humans. And there's the rest of us. Some of us were born here. Some came by choice. Some had nowhere left to run. Town hall, three bars, a clinic, and a rooming house. Great place to go if you're on the run. No roads in or out. Cars come in by ferry from Juneau -- two hour ride. Summer sun rules day and night. By September the sun sets at 6 pm. Three or four hours of sunlight. Maybe.

So what do you do for entertainment in a town like this? If you're Foxy, you entertain your big, beautiful bunny, Jessie. And there's nothing Jessie loves more than dancing... unless it's being chased by Foxy. And letting him catch her.

Monday Author Interview with Karen Stivali

I would like to welcome Karen Stivali to the Menagerie today. She’s a multi-talented author and I’m so glad she’s here. So let’s get on with the interview. Grin. Describe yourself in three words.

Obsessed with chocolate.

Aren’t we all? Snicker. Chocolate is the way to my heart. Cast your book. Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie

Although I’ve published several erotic romances my next two releases are actually Women’s Fiction with Strong Romantic Elements. What does that mean? They’re love stories. They’re super romantic, but not romance novels. The sex scenes are less frequent, but when they appear they’re extremely sensual. The first novel, Meant To Be, is a friends to lovers tale, but not in the traditional sense. There are multiple reasons why this couple can’t be together, so they resist. The majority of the book is like one years-long prelude to a kiss, but once that kiss happen, look out! It’s a story of love and longing. I won’t give it all away, but I’ll share the log line: Sometimes you’re already committed to the wrong person when fate finally brings you the right one.

As much as I love books and movies this was a really difficult question for me. I don’t base characters on people I know or on famous people. A lot of my writer friends use photos to motivate or inspire them but for me I have to see things clearly in my imagination before I write. Even if I do take a nuance of someone’s looks or personality and incorporate it into a character, that character still manages to take on a life of his/her own. I also like to leave it up to readers to decide what the character looks like to them. That’s why there’s always such huge uproar when a popular book is made into a film and the casting choices are announced---it never fits everyone’s idea of what the person should look like. I came up with the story for Meant To Be nearly a decade ago, long before I’d ever heard of either of these actors, but if I had to cast the movie, they’re who I’d choose.

For Daniel I’d choose Robert Pattinson. Not the brooding Twilight incarnation, more like the actor himself. Self-deprecating, quick witted, a mix of shy and confident, and the ability to level a room of women with a glance while not really understanding what all the fuss is about him.

For Marienne I’d cast Ginnifer Goodwin. Beautiful in her own right but always playing the insecure friend.

I can’t not base them on what the person looks like. I’m not much on their personality, but the way they look in a given show or movie. What’s your favorite love scene from a movie?

That’s a really tough choice, because I’m a total film geek. There are dozens of love scenes that I absolutely adore. The first one to pop into my head is the scene from The Notebook where they finally admit their feelings for one another and make love for the first time. I love the intensity and the fact that they longed for each other for so many years and can’t deny it another second. That’s a favorite trope for me, as can be seen in several of my books, but none more than Meant To Be.

Gotta go with what you love and what sets the muse on fire. What’s your wildest fantasy?

If you’d have asked me two years ago, or any time in my life prior to that, I’d have said that my wildest fantasy was to publish a book. Now that I’ve done that (which I still have a hard time believing most days) there’s another fantasy that’s always been a close second. Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved books and movies. I’ve always written and I went as far as to major in film in college before pursuing a different career. The movie-related fantasy has always remained the same. I’d love to attend the Academy Awards. Not to gawk at movie stars (I’m not the star struck type) or to see who’s wearing what (I love a great dress but I couldn’t identify who designed what if my life depended on it). And not just as a fan, but as someone who worked on some aspect of one of the nominated films (screenwriter or a movie based on one of my stories being the ultimate). I’ve watched the show every year I can remember and I cry at half the acceptance speeches (because, yes, I’m that sappy). My wildest fantasy is to somehow deserve to be part of all that.

That’s very cool. Go for it! If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?

I’m pretty attached to all of my senses, but if I had to lose one, I’d have to say hearing. I’m one of those people who has to be able to see what’s going on plus I write, and that would be insanely difficult without sight. Food is and always has been a huge part of my life (that’s why it somehow always works its way into my stories), and smell and taste go hand in hand, so I’d never want to lose either of those. I’m a very tactile person and I love to work with my hands, so losing my sense of touch would drive me absolutely mad. I’d very much miss hearing, but at least I’d still be able to hear things in my mind---songs, people’s voices---and of course, the constant chatter of myself and my characters.

I need my music, so I’m still not willing to part with it. I have no idea which I’d lose. I keep hearing such great reasons why each sense is important. What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

I can’t give you details because my mother still doesn’t know and I don’t want to incriminate the other person, so let’s just say it involved a lot of alcohol and my very best friend, who was (and still is) a guy.

Let’s shift gears since we’re already at the part that makes some blush...the Quickies:

Boxers or Briefs?

Boxers, or better yet, boxer briefs.

Top or Bottom?

Bottom (We’re talking about muffins, right?)

Pajamas or nude?

Nude.

Hairy chests or smooth?

Hairy, but not to the point where it looks like he’s still wearing a sweater.

Alpha or Beta?

Beta. I find some Alpha males amusing but when it comes to attraction (or to characters I create) the Beta guy will always steal my heart.

Karen Stivali is a prolific writer, compulsive baker and chocoholic with a penchant for books, movies and fictional British men. Monday Author Interview with VS Morgan

I’d like to welcome fellow author, VS Morgan. I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s get this interview started!! Describe yourself in three words.

Curious. Driven. Friendly.

Our kind of author! Now for something really hard. Cast your book. Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie and why.

I would cast a young Antonio Banderas as Rafael. Sexy with a hot Spanish accent. Yummy! Casting for Wyatt, a 6’ 6” Montana rancher would be harder. Eric Dane reminds me of how I visualize him in my head, although he’s about five inches shorter than Wyatt.

Le Sigh. How sexy. (Fanning self). Okay, back to the interview. What’s your favorite love scene from a movie?

To be honest, I don’t have a favorite. I enjoy reading and writing romance but watch action flicks for the most part.

We’ve got the attention spans of gnats some days, so we watch movies. Doesn’t matter what they are. But action movies can have some hot scenes. Grin. What’s your wildest fantasy?

Making love outside somewhere romantic like in the heather of Scotland or on a beach at midnight. It’d have to be isolated as I have no desire to be caught. ;)

Isn’t getting caught or potentially getting caught part of the fun? Grin. If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?

Smell, only because I think I could live without it better than the other senses. Plus it’d be easier to lose a few pounds if I couldn’t smell yummy things. Sight, hearing, and touch are very important to me. Not being able to taste anything would be a real bummer.

Yeah, I’d be in so much trouble without my sense of touch and sight. I need to type! What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

I was a goodie-goodie, so wasn’t much of a wild child. I did get my brother riled up so he’d get in trouble sometimes. He became my best friend as we got older but we really went at it when we were younger. I think my mom coined the terms “Don’t make me stop this car” and “Don’t make me turn this car around.”

I think *every* mother coins that term. Mine is, I will reach back there. Grin. So now it’s time for some on-the-fly questions. We call these the quickies!

Boxers or Briefs?

Boxer briefs

Top or Bottom?

Bottom

Pajamas or nude?

Nude

Hairy chests or smooth?

Both

Alpha or beta?

Alpha all the way!

Now a little bit about VS Morgan’s latest release!

Monday Author Interview with Charlene Keel

Today we have the lovely and talented Charlene Keel with us and I’m excited. Talk about a font of knowledge! She’s a riot, too. So let’s get on with this interview. Hi Charlene. Describe yourself in three words.

Loving. Fearless. Honest.

Best three things to be. So now here’s a hard question. Cast your book. Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie and why.

Hmmm. First, I have to pick one! I write all kinds of novels, although I’ve been told that my sexiest are too “literary” to qualify as erotica by today’s standards—I guess because instead of lots of four-letter words drawn from street vernacular I go for more poetic descriptions. Not that I have anything against horny-porny phrases; I just feel that with so many words to choose from, I can be more creative and still be hot.

My books include my version of erotica (FourPlay Girls, a collection of short stories first published in Playgirl), a women’s mainstream (Come Slowly, Eden) and a historical romance (The Lodestone) all available from Amazon as Kindles.

If a movie were made of my sexy historical, The Lodestone, I’d want Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) to play Cleome because she’s gorgeous, talented and has red hair; and for Drake, it would have to be Matthew MacFadyen, with whom I fell in love after seeing his smoldering portrayal of Fitzwilliam Darcy in Pride and Prejudice.

Gotta love when you fall in love with the way an actor plays a characters and can translate it into your books. So much fun. What’s your favorite love scene from a movie?

Call me old fashioned but nothing can compare with the scene in Poldark, the old BBC television series, when Demelza (Angharad Rees) seduces Ross (Robin Ellis). I have all episodes on video and have watched them so many times the tape is stretching out. I was greatly saddened to learn that Ms. Rees recently passed away. With her brilliant portrayal of Demelza, she will live in our hearts forever.

Hmm. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that, so will have to check it out. I love the BBC shows. What’s your wildest fantasy?

Going to the Academy Awards to accept my Oscar for Best Screenplay based on any one of my books, with Matthew MacFadyen or John Barrowman (or both!) as my escort.

I love it! If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?

Probably my hearing because I could learn to read lips (although I’d miss music terribly). Couldn’t do without my sight, though, since I’m afraid of the dark!

Interesting way to look at it. I’m not afraid of the dark, but you make a good point. What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

It was probably also the best thing – I stole one of my mom’s cigarettes (she liked unfiltered Pall Malls) and went into the bathroom and tried to smoke it. It turned me three shades of green and I was sick for two days. I never tried smoking again.

That’s a good way to cure yourself of a curiosity. I can imagine. Unfiltered! Wow. Now for some fun and quick questions. We like things slow and hard, btu fast and furious is just as fun. Boxers or Briefs?

On me – boxers. On him – briefs.

Hee hee. Top or Bottom?

Before I turned 40 – Top. After 40 – Bottom (facial wrinkles and bags fall forward and you don’t want him to see that)!

ROTFL. Great way to put that. I love it. Pajamas or nude?

Him – nude. Me – very sexy nightgown.

YAY! Hairy chests or smooth?

Smoooooooth, please.

Another girl who likes ‘em smooth. TYG! Alpha or Beta?

Me – Alpha (as the matriarch of my clan). Him - Alpha Male Bad Boy!

The Lodestone

Innocent Cleome Parker is unprepared for Drake Stoneham, an arrogant gambler who wins her grandfather’s tavern in a card game. Her mother is an invalid, and Cleome must keep a roof over her head, at any cost. As the illegitimate offspring of a madwoman, Cleome has always been an outcast but she convinces Drake to hire her as innkeeper, and drawn irresistibly to him, she fights her desire. Their daring adventures take them across 1830s England, plunge them into political intrigue in Italy, and inflame the passion between them, drawing them together again and again.

FourPlay Girls

This unique collection of four sizzling short stories first published in Playgirl Magazine will leave you breathless. Lucky Seven is an erotic mystery with one twist after another; Shooting the Works takes you inside a bordello where the hunky male staff caters to women customers; Good Help introduces you to a female business tycoon looking for a male assistant who can satisfy her every need; and Legend of the Cherry Blossom Sleeve tells a story of seduction in exotic, ancient Japan.

Come Slowly, Eden

Two southern women fight to survive in the permissive society of the 1960s. Julie, a beauty born to the best of everything, is so proper, so lovely and so hungry for love. Amanda is a tough little ecstasy machine working her way through FSU as the campus prostitute, servicing state legislators and local political leaders. First published in 1975, Come Slowly Eden was banned in Tallahassee, Florida—the author’s hometown—because it exposed such a dirty little secret. In this new and improved version, characters are more developed and the tantalizing, titillating sex scenes are greatly expanded.

And now for that all-important bio:

Teen Magazine published one of my first short stories when I was in my early twenties and I went on to write over a dozen novels and how-to books. My work in television includes episodes of Days of Our Lives and Fantasy Island. I’ve also written screenplay adaptations of novels, including Patricia Hagan’s Love and War, Rebecca Brandewyne’s The Jacaranda Tree and Peggy Webb’s Where Dolphins Go; and I produced (for Romantic Times) the first annual Mr. Romance Cover Model Pageant, which became the model for Oxygen’s Mr. Romance.

In addition, I’ve worked as editor or managing editor for various magazines including Playgirl, and I ghostwrite books and screenplays for doctors, celebrities and corporate moguls. Currently I’m co-authoring The Tracks, a new YA supernatural trilogy, with J. Gabriel Gates, for HCI Books. The first installment, Dark Territory, was released in July 2011. Ghost Crown, the second book in the series, just hit the stands and we’re hard at work on #3: Shadow Train. And we’re getting a lot of interest from producers who want to make it into a TV/web series.

Monday Author Interview with Jessica E Subject

I want to thank my friend Jessica Subject for stopping by this week for the interview. It’s always fun to have friends here and this guarantees to be a great interview. So let’s get on with it. Grin. Hi Jessica!!

Describe yourself in three words.

Oh my gosh! No, kidding. I would say busy, and morning person. I always get more done in the morning. If I work on something at night, I usually end up rewriting it.

Wow. So the opposite of me. If I get up too early , I’m cranky for the rest of the day. I tried it and it didn’t work. Cast your book. Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie and why (send pictures!).

Oscar – Jude Law
Bo – James Franco
Delayna – Kat Dennings

These actors personify the characters as I imagined while writing the story.

Love me some James Franco. Sigh. Happy Sigh. What’s your favorite love scene from a movie?

Wow, I’ve never been asked that question before. I’d have to say Neytiri and Jake in Avatar. It’s very sweet and sensual, and so romantic. >

That was a good scene. Grin. What’s your wildest fantasy?

Hehe. Um, two of my recent releases touch on it. *grins* But honestly, my husband and I have a lot of fun together. With the kids though, we fantasize about a night out by ourselves.

Yeah, that tv show where the dad shouts, this is all we have! When the child is interrupting him having a quick smooch in the bathroom...yeah, welcome to my life. If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?

That’s a hard one. My immediate thought was smell, but then there would be scents like roses and chocolate chip cookies that I would never experience again. And would food taste the same if we couldn’t smell it? Still, I think in the end, I would go with my sense of smell.

Isn’t that a hard question? Stumps me, too. Grin. What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

Really? My cheeks are warming just thinking about it. I hope my daughter doesn’t read this until she’s an adult. Well, I might have shown something to a neighbor boy. Got caught, and received a lecture, but didn’t get grounded.

Hey. We’ve all done those things we said, yanno, maybe that wasn’t good. Or maybe it was if you learned. Grin. Quickies, because there’s something so right in being bad!

Boxers or Briefs?

Boxer briefs

Top or Bottom?

Top

Pajamas or nude?

Depends if kids are home. LOL

Hairy chests or smooth?

Smooth

Alpha or Beta?

Alpha

Boots and Leather by Myla Jackson - Interview and Giveaway!

Here at the Menagerie, we're thrilled to welcome author Myla Jackson on tour with her HAWT menage, "Boots and Leather" from Samhain Publishing.  Folks, read through her interview and comment because you could win an eBook copy of Sex Ed or or Boots and Chaps! Myla is giving one away to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour. Want more chances to win a yummy book?  Click here for her list of tour stops.

Now... let's get down to business.

Myla, describe yourself in three words.

Wicked, fun, creative

I do like the sound of those!  Now, cast your book. Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie and why.

Libby:  Emma Stone - She's a red-head and kick-ass like Libby.

Mark and Luke - Joe Manganiello (from Magic Mike) - he's tall, dark and could be made up to look like Kiowa Indian Cowboys. Of course there would have to be a double in the sex scenes since Joe would have to play both twins! If not him, the Siva from THE WANTED. He's got the face, just gotta be sure he's tall enough. Whew, hot!

What’s your favorite love scene from a movie?

I love a love scene that hits you in the heart. Ones like in Affair to Remember when he discovers she's paralyzed. In You Got Mail when Meg Ryan sees Tom Hanks and is glad it's him. I also loved in The Ugly Truth when Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl get in the balloon and are arguing and before she realizes it, he's said he loves her. There are so many great love scenes and though I write sexy stories, it's not all about the sex that makes a great love scene. It's all about the heart. In BOOTS AND LEATHER, the best love scene in the book is when the twins offer themselves and an open door to Libby.

What’s your wildest fantasy?

Would love to lie naked on a beach with two guys who look like Joe Manganiellos or go to that pool in BOOTS AND LEATHER where the twins treat Libby to wet sex. I guess I write my fantasies. I love writing because I live my character's lives and live out their fantasies. What better job is there in the world?

I completely agree!  If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?

I guess I never thought about losing a sense. I guess it would be the sense of smell, although I love to smell the scent of a man who's fresh from the shower, dripping and clean and I'm a foody who loves all the wonderful scents of cooking and who doesn't like the smell of a puppy or baby powder or the scent of freshly cut grass. Then again, I like to be able to see where I'm going and appreciate the art of a beautiful body (male or female) and the wonder of the snow-capped mountains. I like to hear what's being said, the sound of a baby crying, my children's voices when they call to say hello. I could go on about each of the senses and I try to use all of the senses to help my readers "see" from my characters' points of view. It makes the reading experience more real.

What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

As a teen, I went to my first bar when I was 15. It was the disco days of the 70's and I loved to dance. An older friend of mine dragged me off to the local VFW where we drank White Russians and danced with a couple of old guys. It was fun sneaking in and only the beginning of my run on the bars playing disco. Again, I loved to dance and wanted to go where the music was. That happened to be 40 miles away in Hot Springs, Arkansas where you could find me every Friday and Saturday night.

Time for some Quickies:

Boxers or Briefs? Boxers, things can hang looser, oh yeah!

Top or Bottom? Both! It's fun either way.

Pajamas or nude? Nude! Something sexy about lying nude on the sheets.

Hairy chests or smooth? Both! Love to see a sexy Greek god-like man with the smooth chest, but then I like to run my fingers through the coarse curls too.

Alpha or Beta? Both! I love a good Alpha with attitude and strength. But I love a sensitive guy who knows what it takes to please a woman.

Myla, thanks for being here with us today. Let's hear a little about "Boots and Leather" before you head out.

This biker chick longs for the open road…until two Kiowa cowboys shift her gears.

Eight months ago, Libby Jones parked her motorcycle in Temptation, Texas, to work at the Ugly Stick Saloon. Since then she’s grown to love the bar’s feeling of family, but now it’s time to hit the road. The longer she stays, the greater the risk her father’s investigators will track her down.

Yet she can’t resist taking the Gray Wolf twins up on their offer to go riding on their ranch. Even though getting involved should be the last thing on her mind.

Ever since Libby landed at the Ugly Stick, Mark and Luke Gray Wolf have been trying to capture her attention. She's blown them off at every turn, until now. Their plan: expose her to the delights only twins can provide—and persuade her to stay for the long haul.

Libby’s longing for a life she can’t have makes her delay her departure just a heartbeat too long. Her hesitation gives her past time to walk through the saloon door, and all hell to break loose. Now the twins have a fight on their hands to teach her that being free doesn’t mean she can’t let go of her heart.

Warning: Welcome back to the Ugly Stick Saloon. Pull up a chair and set a spell, you're gonna wanna hear this tale about two hot Kiowa twins and a leather-clad biker chick. Multiple partners, a little BDSM, and one skinny-dippin' scene so hot it’ll make the pages sizzle!

Audrey laughed. “Did Mark and Luke talk you into an outing?” She patted Libby on the back. “Babe, you’re in for a real treat.”

“That’s what they said.” A tingle of excitement threatened to grow inside Libby’s body.

A secret smile lifted Audrey’s lips. “The two of them are amazing together.”

Her frown deepening, Libby glanced across at her boss. “And you know that how?”

Audrey’s lips quirked upward in a smirk. “Did I tell you the story of how they got me and Jackson together?” She slipped her arm around Libby’s shoulder and walked her slowly into the bar.

“No, you didn’t.”

Audrey touched a finger to her own lips. “Hmm. Maybe I shouldn’t, and let you discover for yourself why those two are phenomenal.”

Libby’s core tightened, a wash of moisture trickling out of what she’d thought was her dried-up pussy, shocking her more than she cared to admit. She marched the rest of the way to the bar and took up her bar towel. “I’ve a good mind to cancel.”

“No way,” Audrey called out.

Her heart sped and pressure pushed against her chest, the sure signs of the beginnings of an anxiety attack.

Audrey laid a hand on her arm. “You have to go on that picnic. I promise you won’t regret it.”

Forcing a smile for the next customer, Libby muttered beneath her breath, “I think I already am.” Yeah, yeah. Then why did a shiver of anticipation spread throughout her body?

Myla Jackson pens wildly sexy adventures of all genres including historical westerns, medieval tales, romantic suspense, contemporary romance and paranormals with beasties of all shapes and sizes. When not wrangling words from her computer with the help of her canine muses, she's snow-skiing, boating or riding her ATV.

Describe yourself in three words.

I’m curious; I love learning new things, meeting people and traveling. I also really enjoy taking workshops and courses around Toronto, and I read voraciously. I’m also very passionate about my hobbies, my interests, and the people in my private life, of course. ;) I’ve also been told I can be carefree and a bit immature, although I prefer to think of myself as blithe. I love my life and the people in it. They make me happy and keep me feeling very young at heart.

I think that was more than three, but that's okay. We won't tell.  *wink*

Cast your book. Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie and why.

I would cast Daniela Sea as Kennedy. Not only does she have the right muscular, athletic build, but she also has the fearless, proud look that Kennedy should have, as well as a more vulnerable side. My top choice to play Dawson would be Matt Bomer for three reasons: his body type and personality are a fantastic match for the character; he has the perfect smile that can be both charming and teasing at the same time; and, ultimately, because I have a feeling he would unbelievable in a pair of tight, dirty jeans and a cowboy hat!

He is a serious hottie!  Good choice.  What’s your favorite love scene from a movie?

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams’ rain-soaked kiss in the Notebook! I don’t watch very many romance movies, but that one really touched me. I could watch that film over and over again.

Wait, did you say you don't watch many romance movies?  :::shocked:::

Moving on.  What’s your wildest fantasy?

Honestly, nothing excites me more than threesome fantasies. I love the idea of two strong-willed, assertive lovers overwhelming and overpowering me at the same time, especially if there’s a bit of friction or tension between the pair before the action even starts! Be it two men, two women, or one partner of each gender, I could never say no to two confident, charming people at one time!

Mmmmmmm.... I rather agree.

If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?

I think I would have to sacrifice my sense of smell, because I can’t imagine my life without being able to read, write, listen to music, savor food, or embrace my partner. Besides, living in downtown Toronto, I have to put up with a lot more bad smells than good, so losing that sense might be an advantage for me!

What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

Nothing! I was a perfect angel… although I’m sure my sister could come up with a few horror stories about me. ;)

Together, we did get into a lot of mischief, but it was all harmless, innocent stuff. I remember one summer when we were spending a month at our grandparents’ house. My Nana, who was a very classy and dignified woman, was doing the laundry indoors and asked us to help hang up some clothing on the clothesline in the backyard. Rather than hang up the towels and facecloths she had left out, however, we pulled all her panties and bras out of the wet wash pile and hung them up across the yard where all her neighbors could see them.

In our minds, it was just a silly, harmless prank, but judging from Nana’s reaction when she came outside an hour later to check on us, it was the most horrifying, wicked thing two little girls could ever do to her.

We were taken off laundry duty and put in charge of washing the dog after that, which led to its own misadventures... ;)

Quickies:

Boxers or Briefs? A snug, tight-fitting pair of briefs always gets my attention!
Top or Bottom? I’m a Bottom, in every sense of the word.
Pajamas or nude? Nude! Once I’m under the blankets with someone, pjs just get in the way!
Hairy chests or smooth? When it comes to cowboys, I like a muscular, hairy chest.
Alpha or Beta? Male or female, a confident, dominant Alpha is always my top choice ;).

Now tell us a bit about the story and share an excerpt, would you?

These cowboys ride hard...

There's a reason Western romance novels never go out of fashion. The cowboy is an iconic figure embodying the dichotomy of the fiercely independent, earthy alpha male crossed with the male as a nurturer and protector. Cowboys take care of their women in every possible way. Wild and wayward women are gentled by the scent of horse and cow and the sight of sun-kissed skin, the feel of work-hardened thighs and arms, and the sound of a deep-voiced Texas drawl.

Contributors at the top of the Western romance genre, including Charlene Teglia, Randi Alexander, Cat Johnson, and editor, Delilah Devlin, have corralled strong and memorable characters ranging from ranch hands to cattle barons, to a rodeo star and a feisty female gunslinger. Traversing romantic settings from Montana, Texas, California, Mexico, and the Outback of Australia, the stories in Cowboy Lust are risky and risqué, full of studs in spurs hot enough to send you to a vacation on a dude ranch!

EXCERPT:

“Rough Stock” by M. Marie:

A sudden hush, then flurry of excited whispers heralded her approach. Flicking the brim of his hat up, Dawson glanced back across the showground as Kennedy advanced. Like all the Rawlings, she was impossible to mistake, even in a crowd. That family carried their personalities in their gait, and Kennedy’s stride spoke of confidence, fearlessness, and a fierce, indomitable pride. He grinned openly as he watched her boldly cut her way through the crowd. Her shoulders were rolled back, her chin was thrust out, and the girl’s hips swaggered like a true vaquero.

At 19, Kennedy had finally grown into the long-legged, awkward body she had been teased for all through middle-school. She was a tough, tall girl with a solid, athletic build. Like the champion stock her father bred, she was broad-shouldered and muscular. Rough-mannered and rough-spoken alike, she had a reputation for always speaking her mind. She could be quick-tempered at time, and, although she was by no means reckless, she had a fiercely stubborn, competitive side. Like her father, when she set a challenge for herself, she would push herself to her absolute limit to see that goal reached. It was a trait that had brought Jake Rawlings his early success as a young man working the circuits, and had become the driving force behind Kennedy's decision to carry on the family tradition by competing in the rodeos as well.

Her career choice wasn't unusual for their community, though. Their town always had a strong showing of participants in the women's rodeo, and a handful of local girls also competed in the professional circuit. Kennedy’s family certainly would have supported her if she had shown an interest in following a similar professional path, but she bristled at the idea. The pro competitions were too restrictive; women could only compete in a handful of events, the bulk of which were timed ones. Although Kennedy was a natural at the barrel racing and team roping, her heart wasn't in it. She lived for the rough stock events; she thrived on the risk and danger of testing herself physically against the raw power and strength of the broncos and bulls.

As a result of both her appearance and interests, Kennedy had a reputation for being wild and fearless. Even her parents held that opinion of her, but Dawson knew better. She wasn’t as thick-skinned as she let on...

M. Marie lives in the heart of downtown Toronto and is both an erotica writer and enthusiast. ;) This passionate young Canadian is also a dedicated supporter of the arts - opera, the theatre, and fine arts, in particular - as well as a vocal fan of videogames, animation, comics, and writing, of course!

As a freelance writer who has very recently began writing erotica, she is finding the experience challenging, but exciting. It has made her discover new sides to herself, and is constantly leading her to push boundaries she didn’t even realize she had.

Information on her recent and upcoming publications can be found on her blog: www.mmarie.ca

Monday Author Interview with Sam Cheever

I’d like to welcome the fantastic author Sam Cheever here today on the blog. She’s one of my fellow authors over at Changeling Press and an all-around fantastic person. But you’re not here to read my blabbering. You are here for the interview, so let’s get going. Sam, thanks for being here. Describe yourself in three words.

Short, snarky, creative...Maybe that explains why so many of my heroines are small and feisty. Hmm, self-reflective moment…

Nothing wrong with being short and feisty. I know from personal experience. Cast your book. Tell us who would play the main characters in a movie and why?

In the Blockbuster movie, Honeybun at a Dude Ranch, Heathcliffe would be played by Christopher Gorham from Covert Affairs, yum! Nita would be played by Sarah Shahi from Fairly Legal.

Ooh! Good choices! Love. What’s your favorite love scene from a movie?

I’m a huge True Blood fan, I love the scene between Sookie and Bill when he first emerges from the grave after being badly burned running through the sun to save Sookie from certain death. Sookie visits the scene of his apparent roasting the next night, thinking Bill is dead, and he suddenly climbs out of the earth and leaps on her, all lips and hands. The scene is very emotional and hot!

Now that’s happy shiver inducing. Might have to go take a look-see at the DVD once the interview is done. What? You know you’re going to, too. Grin. What’s your wildest fantasy?

Sex on the back of a horse. Oh yeah! A galloping horse.

Intriguing. Knowing my sense of... grace, I’d fall off in the middle. And inevitably the one time I get to goof off with Gerard Butler, too. Sigh. If you were to lose one of your senses, which would you rather lose and why?

Taste, so I could lose weight and keep it off. LOL I’m pretty sure that’s the only way I could stay skinny!

Love it. I bet a lot of people would like that. What is the naughtiest thing you did as a kid?

In high school I had the biggest crush on this one family of brothers. There were 3 of them and each one was hotter than the last. Of course they were the most popular boys in school and they only dated the cheerleader types. I would have done anything at all if one of them looked twice at me. They were so incredibly cute. It’s probably good they didn’t know I existed. LOL

I can relate. There weren’t three of them. Just one. I accidentally deleted his resume when we were seniors. Yeah, then I offered to retype it—except I couldn’t type for snot. Not good. So now it’s time for the blitzy quick questions! Plus, they are fun. Boxers or Briefs?

Boxers, silk ones, yum

Top or Bottom?

Bottom, but not because I’m a Beta. I like being able to relax and enjoy the moment.

Pajamas or nude?

Nude in my mind, pjs in reality

I’m all about the PJs because I don’t want caught in a fire in the buffo. Hairy chests or smooth?

Smooth, but I do like a man with just a dusting of hair over his pecs and trailing south to heaven. I just don’t want to be able to make a rug out of the hair on the guy’s chest, Bleurgh!

Alpha or Beta?

Alpha…oh, did you mean my partner?

Snicker. Here’s the blurb for Honeybun at the Dude Ranch, because you know you want it!

Depressed by injuries that have sidelined his career and pretty sure he’ll never find love, Heathcliffe goes to his cousin Peyton's Dude Ranch in Southern Indiana for some "alone" time. His plan is to contemplate the direction his life is taking and figure out how to get back on track.

But he didn’t count on Nita Harley, the ranch's newly hired activity director. Nita's an attractive, young widow who's trying to make sense of her life too, but her problems are much more urgent and dangerous than Heathcliffe's. Someone is killing everyone Nita connects with and, as their feelings for each other grow, she's pretty sure Heathcliffe will be next.
