TMI Tuesday

Okay, today I'm at a loss for what to blog about so it's the TMI Tuesday Meme for y'all. Since I like doing it anyway... you might see it more. It's just a matter of my dragging my sorry butt over to the site and getting the questions. With that said, here's today's:

1. How many speeding tickets have you had? Accidents? I've only ever had one speeding ticket, when I was 17. I got pulled over one other time, but my obviously pregnant body, and my tearful (and truthful) excuse of having to use the bathroom but not liking public toilets got me out of it. I've never seen a more horrified Highway Patrolman. I barely made it home in time, btw.

2. Boxers, briefs or commando? Umm... well... I don't wear any of those... lol. What do I prefer on a man? Boxer-briefs. :-D

3. Have you ever had sex in your office or your place of employment? Nope... but does sex behind your place of employment in a car count?

4. Do you or your so own a motorcycle? Do you ever ride one? Do you wear a helmet when you ride? I don't own one, neither does my SO... BUT, my dad and brother do. I've grown up riding Harleys. Yes, I ride whenever I can wheedle my dad into taking me. I absolutely wear a helmet... it's the law here in Nevada. Besides... without my brain bucket, there'd be a much bigger mess to clean up if we wiped out severely.

5. Ever been skinny dipping? Yes

Bonus: Ever been arrested? Turned someone in/had someone arrested? Never been arrested... never turned anyone in, or had anyone arrested... been tempted a few times. Never went through with it. I'm sure there were a few times that I should have... but I didn't.

So... what are your answers?

TMI Tuesday

I forgot it was Tuesday... sorry. So, I'm late, but I'm here.

TMI Tuesday #186

1. Which traits from your parents do you see in yourself? ~ I talk A LOT! I come from a large Irish/German family... we get loud. From my mom, I think I have the "take care of everyone else" gene. From my dad, I'd have to say my love of cars (MUSCLE CARS!) and the belief that even though I am a girly-girl... I'm not helpless and I don't have to let someone else do things that I'm perfectly capable of just because I'm this little blonde thing.

2. Which traits from you/your partner do you see in your children (if you don't have kids, which would you like to see)? My sons all have the same mischievous twinkle in their eyes that my hubby does, and his love of life. My boys all love music and dancing as much as I do.... although I can't quite convince them that boys can be BOYS and do ballet. *sigh* I hope that I can pass on the morals and values that I learned growing up.

3. How did you get the birds-and-bees talk? Umm... I didn't... my family has always been... embarassingly open about sex. I feel like I've always known about it. I don't remember a specific talk. BUT, after I lost my virginity my mother and I were driving in my dad's truck and she didn't even look at me when she said, "So... do we need to get you in for birth control?" I wish she'd waited until I'd swallowed my drink before she said that. My dad make me detail the inside of his truck to clean up all the soda I spewed.

4. What was your favorite childhood book? I'm not sure, I loved to read (still do). I loved the Judy Bloom books, and the Little Creature books by Mercer Meyer.

5. What is your favorite piece of erotic literature? Natural Law by Joey W. Hill, hands down.

Bonus: What is the one thing you wish you could go back and tell yourself as a child? Umm... don't worry 'bout it, baby-girl, it all works out in the end.

Double Bonus: If your life were a book or movie, what would the title be? Hmm... "Full Out" ... because it's never as good when you only mark it. Sorry, it's a dancer thing. LOL

TMI Tuesday & Purple Prose

First... TMI Tuesday:

1. Have you ever bought a membership to a porn site? If yes, what is the most recent one and did you like it? Umm... would I get away with it if I said it was research? I have, but I don't remember the site, and I didn't really use it... and I worry that my kids will mess with my computer and pull it up... 'nuff said.

2. Would you rather watch a erotic/porn movie, read a story, or listen to an audio? Why? Hmm... all of the above. I mean, come on, the watching for research...:-D... the reading because that's what I do, I read and write Erotic Romance... the listening, mmmm, just something about it that gets my heart racing that probably wouldn't happen if I was just reading it.

3. If you have a significant other what do you do for each other to get in the mood? If you don't what would you kind of thing could a future potential long term partner do to get you in the mood? I roll over. J/K ... but really, we have four kids, usually the only energy I have to get in the mood is to roll over and rub my hand along his arm. I like to let him read the sex scenes in my stories... and ask him to help me with research, you know: Is whipped cream really colder on the nipple than on the clit/penis? :-D

4. When it comes to sex, how much do you talk about it with others? How comfortable are you talking about sex? HA, I am an EROTIC ROMANCE AUTHOR, I talk about it all the time. I write about it all the time, and I write about writing about it all the time. How many ways are there to say Tab A inserts into slot B? Well, sometimes another person's perspective can help... they may use different words. :-D I'm pretty comfortable talking about sex... my family was rather ribald like that and it was never really a "dirty" thing to talk about in our house. Heck, I know more about my parents' sex life than I EVER wanted to.

5. What are the last 5 things you search for on Google (or another search engine)? How sad is it that I actually know just how to look this up: 1. Rick Yune (possible future Saturday Hottie material);2. purple prose (see below); 3. Yasmine Galenorn (I have some of her books and wanted to know the reading order... cuz I'm OCD like that); 4. Emma Woodbine (narrator for Audible.com, I loved the way she read a certain book and was wondering if I'd seen her or heard her somewhere else); 5. Thiago Vieira (This past weekend's Saturday Hottie). Those were the last five... I could go on I guess but you only asked for five. :-D

Bonus: Have you ever had a fantasy that you were ashamed of? Hmm... not ashamed per-se... I had a thing for my STEPbrother for a long time... then I got over it. Usually, I don't really care what others will think of my sexual preferences... it's nothing illegal... no pedophilia, or incest, so I don't worry about it. Therefore, no shame.

I enjoyed the questions this week, and I look forward to next week's. This just might become a regular thing, not just for when I don't know what to blog about. :-)

*******************************************************

Now, as for the purple prose (I am NOT the only one who finds that phrase so very sexual. At first, when I harassed my sister on what to write about she said, "Purple prose" something I'd been whining about in a book I had just read. I told her "I'm not touching that one" and the conversation rolled downhill from there. I'm sure you can guess at the innuendos we were tossing about.

I even looked it up to see what others said about purple prose. The only "definition" was on Wikipedia. And I actually got quite a kick out of this description: "Modern instances of purple prose can often be found in romance novels. These started alluding to sex in the 1970s and authors, not wanting to be either pornographic or clinical in their descriptions, developed many euphemisms to describe body parts and sexual activity. Examples include "throbbing manhood", "quivering desire" and (he) "filled her with the hot wet tumult of his love." Body parts are often referred to simply by the term his or her "sex", which allows for such sentences as "He put his sex in her sex and they had sex."

Romance writers are aware of the problem, with Deb Stover contributing an essay "The Purple Prose Eater" to the book How to Write a Romance For The New Markets (1999)."

Why is this on my mind? Well, partly because I was reading a book that drove me a bit insane with it, and partly because I know that I sometimes struggle to write a sentence that is evocative without... purple prose. I mean, really, how many different ways can you describe Tab A inserts into Slot B? Don't get me wrong, I like words and the Thesaurus is my friend (I think I have like four) but how much is too much? When does it go from a well-written novel/story to an eye-rolling example of purple prose?

I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this. :-D

TMI Tuesday

These questions are cracking me up today. *snicker* It's called TMI Tuesday for a reason, just saying.

1. Have you ever had angry sex? Yes, I think I was probably a bit more angry than he was. It's just like make-up sex... only you haven't made up yet. LOL

2. Pity sex? Ummm... yeah... but I might have been the pitiee not the pitier. Just kidding, I don't know that I ever really thought about it that way. He was a nice guy, so I wouldn't say "pity"...

3. "Oh well, I might as well" sex? Umm... yeah, and I'm pretty sure he knew it too. He got his way, he didn't care how. :-D

4. One-of-you-knew-it-was-goodbye-and-the-other-didn't sex? Yup, I'm not explaining that one.

5. Don't-remember-having-it sex? Not that I can remember. :-D

6. Regret-it-afterward sex? Yes, you're lying if you answer no to that question. There's always at least one experience you regret.

7. Can't-remember-his/her-name sex? Yes, much to my shame, but obviously it wasn't all that great. Otherwise, I would have been screaming his name. Think about it.

8. Never-knew-his/her-name sex? No, I always at least got a name. See above for if I remembered it.

Bonus: What was the worst single sexual experience of your life? Losing my virginity... think much bigger than expected... and rug burns on my ass... all around a not-fun experience.

Okay, those are my answers. Y'all now know way more about me than you probably wanted to. :-D

TMI Tuesday

Umm... I'm running late, and I just have no idea what to write about. So I cheated and did TMI Tuesday today. :-D

1. Marriage and children aside, what has been your greatest accomplishment in life? Hmm... That's a tough one when you take away marriage and children. I would have to say having the courage to follow my dreams throughout my life is my greatest accomplishment.

2. Aside from healthy and happy children, what is your greatest ambition for the future? I want to be published! I'm working toward it, and trying not to let insane circumstances stop me. Soon and very soon I'll be there.

3. If we were to enter your real name in a search engine, what would we find? Ahem... nothing illegal that I know of. Not even any really interesting pictures either... again, that I know of.

4. Who is the most famous person you ever met (not just in the same room as, but actually spoke with)? Well, I went to high school with Rutina Wesley (the girl who plays Tara in True Blood) and Donovan Patton (Joe on Blue's Clues). Do they count? Plus, I worked with Siegfried and Roy a looooooong time ago. :-D

5. Parents aside, who is your biggest hero? Susan Boyle - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxPZh4AnWyk she gives me chills. Okay, umm... really... my uncles: One serves in the military (I'm a proud member of a military family) and the other went against tradition and what others told him he should do, gave up his position as a minister and came out to his family. Both are incredibly courageous men if you ask me.

6. Someone once worked out the sexual version of Six Degrees of Separation - Celebrity A slept with B, who slept with C, who slept with D, making as sort of connection between A and D. Are you connected to anyone famous through six or fewer bonks? Umm... gosh I don't think so! I don't know if I really WANT to know that one...

How about you? What would your answers be?

TMI Tuesday!

So, we all fell of the wagon a bit last week. Between Christmas and New Year's Day... it got a bit difficult to keep up. Add in doctors' appointments and testing and that's my only explanation. So, here's to a new year and hopefully no more missed weeks. :-D

Today is TMI Tuesday, and here are the questions for today:

'Would you rather...' edition

1. Would you rather be stranded on an island alone or with someone you dislike/don't get along with?
Hmm... Let's see, I think that if I was stranded by myself I'd drive myself nuts... whereas if I'm stranded with someone I don't even like, I can drive THEM nuts. Besides, I'm sure that if we got to be too much for each other we could just face in opposite directions and ignore each other. :-D So, With someone I dislike/don't get along with.

2. Would you rather accidentally walk in on your parents having sex or have them walk in on you? :::shudder::: BOTH of these have happened to me, and while the walking in on ME was embarassing, the walking in on THEM was horrifying! A part of me thinks it's very cool that my parents still have the hots for each other, but I already know WAY too much about their sex lives, seeing was way too much for me, I needed bleach for my brain.

3. Would you rather be snapped by paparazzi during a nipple slip or while exiting a car with out any underwear?(guys, consider similar circumstances) Wow, how about neither! I'd like to think that I would have more class than to be caught with something hanging out that shouldn't be. Come on, my gramma taught me how to exit a car, and it's just plain crass to be so open as to get caught in that... position. I guess if I HAD to choose, it would be the nipple slip, at least that one could actually just be a wardrobe malfunction.

4. Would you rather not have sex for two years or not be able to use the Internet for two years? HA, that one's EASY! No sex... just kidding! No internet would be much preferable to no sex.

5. Would you rather find true love or 1 million dollars? Aww... I'm gonna be REALLY sappy, and say true love. But, yanno, I already found that, so could the million dollars find it's way to me now? Please? That would just rock!

Bonus (as in optional): If you had to choose *one* sexual position for the rest of your life, what would it be? Why? *Ahem* ... well... hmm... just one? I'd have to say... you'll have to read my stories to figure that one out. :-D

So, those are my answers for TMI Tuesday. Hope y'all enjoyed them. I'll hopefully have an update by the weekend on what the doctor has to say in regards to all the fun tests I've endured for the past couple of weeks. I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe New Year... and that you didn't get into too much trouble.

TMI Tuesday!

Okay, I am so darned tired today. After a treadmill test that didn't really go all that well (when your Dr. says, "Well, that's not good!" you know something's wrong) and finally getting my tree decorated (it's been up for two days, but I have to do everything in stages lately, otherwise I run out of steam real quick and things never get done), I am just so tired with too many things still left to do. So, today y'all get a meme:

It's TMI Tuesday. There are five questions asked that may not have much to do with one another or may... but sometimes you may be giving... Too Much Information! Thus, TMI Tuesday, lol. So here are the questions and my answers:

1. What present do you hope ends up under your tree?

Hmm... I would really love to get a new e-book reader. I am currently using my Palm Pilot with a program that converts pdfs into format I can read on it, but the screen is so small I only get a couple of paragraphs at a time... and it would be really nice to get a better reader. Now, that being said, I don't expect one and my hubby pays attention to all of my "Oh, that's neat/pretty/cool" comments and remembers them for birthdays/Christmas/anniversary gifts. So, I know that no matter what I get, I'll love it.

2. What present are you most psyched about giving (PLEASE be vague or ignore this question if the recipient reads your blog)?

I am so psyched to see the look on my oldest son's face when he sees that he IS getting his own computer for his bedroom (refurbished, but HIS). He thinks that there's only going to be the one computer he has to share with his brothers (we've had it for some time, just not hooked up).

3. DO you prefer to give or receive?

*snort* This could be taken so badly... and knowing me you know I took it that way. Hee hee... it depends on my mood. *snicker* Ahem, as far as Christmas and gifts I love to give, I always over-buy for everyone, and even buy/make gifts for everyone when we only draw certain names for gifts.

4. What is your favorite part off a sexual partner's body?

Well... I am REALLY hoping the author meant OF, cuz I don't really want any part OFF my hubby's body. So, in that vein... I love my hubby's lips. They're just perfect in my opinion and he knows what to do with them. Yup, TMI, but that's the point. :-D

5. What is your favorite part of your body - the one you hope a sexual partner will find or pay the most attention to?

That crease where thigh meets... hip. It's so sensitive and it makes the stomach clench and the breath catch. *sigh* Just a really yummy part of the body that can be ignored... but not in my house!

So, that's my TMI Tuesday. Was it TMI? What are YOUR answers to these questions? Or, pick one and tell me your answer. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Holiday. Merry Christmas, or whatever you celebrate, and a Happy New Year.
