What Turns You On?

What gets you in the mood? I'm not talking romantic dinners and candle light. Phpfpfpfpfp. I mean tunes. What tunes get you in the mood to write a sexy scene? Or are you visual? OR are you like me and need a little of both?

Then I thought for my post today, I'd share my tunes and my pics. Can't be greedy.

I Got Nuthin'

I swear, lately it's like someone has come along with a brain sucker and sucked out all my brains. I open a document to write and I'm blank. I'll be talking to someone and words escape me. I can't settle for more than a few moments before I pop up to do something different.

I'm antsy. Tired. Irritable. Uninspired.

The muse -- all the muses (because I have them for other life things, too ... the muse of cooking, the muse of mothering, the muse of cleaning, the muse of entertaining, etc) have gone on vacation. And they haven't even sent a postcard.

And still, I'll open those documents and struggle to get words down. I'll try to make dinner more than a box of Kraft Mac-n-Cheese. I'll continue to clean well enough to keep the health department from condemning the house.

And hope the muses return.

I don't suppose you've seen them anywhere?

What Do You Do...

When your muse has ADHD? You think I'm kidding! NOPE... she has no freaking focus. Why is this coming up right now? I'll tell you.

Today I watched a video that was sent to me by my Ex-Navy/Firefighter brother-in-law that got my muse on a roll. I guess normally this wouldn't be a problem but I'm in the middle of edits on two WIPs and my current WIP needs to be finished. I HATE starting a new story before I've finished the one I'm working on... but like I said, my muse has ADHD.

As I watched this video, she went nuts. My brain was yanked into a whole different direction than it had been on for the last few months. I could hear my current characters throwing temper tantrums as I wandered off to follow along in her enthusiastic wake. This story is calling to me and I'm having a hard time moving back to my current WIP, which has left two of my main characters in a rather compromising position (they're not the ones complaining).

My question is, what would you do? Is anyone reading this? LOL What do you do when you can't seem to focus on what you're currently working on because your muse won't cooperate?

It's not like she's not being creative... she's just not sticking with the plan. I've been writing notes furiously as she jabbers in my head, but I really like the story I'm working on... and I think Cari will wring my neck if she doesn't get to read it soon... she has a thing for Farrell. :-) So, what do you suggest?

The Best Of Intentions

I have learned this week that even with the best of intentions things don't always go the way we want them to. I had planned on doing the "I Love Your Blog Awards" today, but I had to push it back yet another week. Sorry!

This week has been a study in frustration. All things considered it could be going much worse than it is, and that's what keeps me from sticking my head in the oven... that and I have four kids who would just yank me out before I could even get a good dose of dain bramage... wait, maybe not! LOL

I have a doctor's appointment today, and honestly I just can't get my brain to wrap around much else. Considering I'll be going against my natural inclinations to not rock the boat (Why are you laughing, Mysti? Sheesh!) and demand that they do more testing and figure something else out instead of just throwing drugs at it and hoping it all goes away. Because what we are doing currently is doing nothing for me... and a mother of four boys cannot afford to be as exhausted as I have been lately.

GAH, we'll see. So, since I didn't get to the "We Love Your Blog Awards" I had nothing to blog about today... well, except for the above, and I'm sure y'all could care less. LOL

Anyway, anyone have any suggestions on how to actually get some writing done when my muse feels as horrid as I do? She's sitting in my head draped artfully across a fainting couch hand flopped over her eyes, other arm hanging from the side of the couch, "I... just... can't... inspire... right... now... too... tired..." HEY, maybe that's where all my energy has disappeared to! My muse used it all up with her insane sexy/party antics. The witch! Ah, well, hopefully she starts to feel better when I start to feel better. :-D

I'll keep y'all updated (okay, I'll TRY to keep y'all updated) as to what we figure out. I hope your week is shaping up to be interesting and fun. Have a great week!
