Karen Stivali is a prolific writer, compulsive baker and chocoholic with a penchant for books, movies and fictional British men. When she’s not writing, she can be found cooking extravagant meals and serving them to family and friends. Prior to deciding to write full time Karen worked as a hand drawn animator, a clinical therapist, and held various food-related jobs ranging from waitress to specialty cake maker. Planning elaborate parties and fundraisers takes up what’s left of her time and sanity.

Karen has always been fascinated by the way people relate to one another so she favors books and movies that feature richly detailed characters and their relationships. In her own writing she likes to explore the dynamics between characters and has a tendency to craft romantic love stories filled with sarcasm and sexy details.

Karen has published three erotic romances with Ellora’s Cave: Marry Me (June 2012), Long-Distance Lovers (co-written with Karen Booth, March 2012) and Always You (Passionate Plume First Place Novella Winner, RWA 2012).

Karen’s first full-length novel, Meant To Be, will be published by Turquoise Morning Press on August 26, 2012. Its sequel, Holding On, will be released on November 26, 2012. A prequel to these novels, the short story All I Need, appears in the Foreign Affairs Anthology (Turquoise Morning Press, August 2012).

Friday Fun with Megan Slayer

Ode to the Man Butt

I've been watching the football games and those pants. Holy cow. Those are some tight britches. And see through! In a lot of cases, it's a nice view. Sometimes it's not, but who cares.

There's something about a man butt. Even when it's toned, there's a squishiness that begs to be grabbed. Spanked. Swatted.

And if it's nude and not hairy, even better for me. All those pictures shared on Facebook, on blogs and anywhere else man bottom can be shared...oh la la.

Even when the guy is lacking, there's still enough to grab. Cuz, why not? If it's not there to be grabbed, then what's it there for?

Okay, so this wasn't a great ode, but really, we're talking about man ass. It doesn't have to be super cool. Just look like Aaron Rodgers minus his pants.

Wicked Grin.

Alex’s body is in a coma. His soul, however, is not. Desperate to become whole, he must first convince stubborn beauty Evening Sinclair that he is not dead.

For generations, the Sinclairs have been healers. Using a gentle touch to heal the body and a soothing word to heal the soul, Evening Sinclair is no different. Yet despite her secret abilities, Eve has a somewhat normal existence. She enjoys her small physiotherapy practice, dotes on her eight-year-old daughter and occasionally helps souls get back into their bodies-that is until Alex, with his brooding good looks and glowing eyes, appears in her kitchen.

Alex is desperate to get back into his body-two innocent lives depend on it. His only obstacle is Eve and her stubborn fear. Unfortunately for Eve, Alex is ruthless and just as stubborn. He will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He will not 'go away' and no matter how much Eve tortures him with her lush body and perfect mouth, he will not change his mind. Eve will merge him, and if it takes him haunting her day and night, she will merge him back with a body-any body.

Guns raised, both men descended on the figure as it cowered in the corner of Rhodes’ private bathroom. Alex fixed his eyes on the target as he moved closer. Then stopped, stunned by what he saw. A woman. A pregnant woman. He grabbed Miles’ shoulder. “Wait.”

“What for?” Miles asked quickly.

The woman turned her face, showing her tear-stained brown eyes. Those beautiful eyes grew wide when she saw Miles. “Rick?” The woman called Miles by his cover name.

“What’s going on? Why did you…?” She couldn’t finish, tears slipped over onto her cheeks as her lips began to tremble.

Alex studied the woman. “Who is she?” And what is she doing here with Rhodes?

“Jillian Reid, Rhodes’ secretary.” Miles pulled his lips into a tight line and lowered his gun. “What are you doing here, Jillian?”

Alex watched Miles silently. Body tense, eyes flat, although, his voice did carry a slight emotional attachment. Something was off.

The woman sniffed and peeked at him between her fingers. “We were late coming out of a meeting and I had to catch up on a few things. I ended up missing my bus. Mr Rhodes said he would give me a ride home.” She sniffed again. “He said I could use his bathroom before we left, so I didn’t have to walk upstairs.” Her face crumbled a second time. “Why…why did you kill him, Rick?”

Miles raised his gun. The woman whimpered.

“Hey,” Alex warned. “You are seeing what I’m seeing, right?”

“We have the go to eliminate witnesses. She’s a witness.”

Nancy’s addiction for a good trash novel began in her late-teens when her grandmother gave her a bag of Harlequin Romance books. She was hooked and spent the next few years lurking in the dark corners of used bookstores searching for her next fix. Until, one marriage and two kids later, her own ideas had her jumping up at 3 am (much to her husband’s annoyance) and typing them into her laptop.

Besides her husband and children, Nancy has three passions, rearranging furniture, buying bed linens and, of course, writing. Nancy lives in Eastern Ontario with her family and two over sized lap dogs.

Sunday Book Video ~ Blue Light Special by Mysti Holiday

Blue Light Special by Mysti Holiday

When Karin Lattimer moves across the country and her over-protective brother asks his friend Caleb Hawkes to keep an eye on her, she's more than annoyed...she's turned on. The attentive cop is a walking wet dream, but Karin knows he's only hanging around out of a sense of duty. Acting on her crazy attraction would reveal more than the man's buff body—it would also reveal her heart.

Caleb is well aware that Karin is all woman. He can't keep his eyes off her and his hands itch to touch her. But she's not one-night-stand material, and he firmly believes cops make lousy partners for long-term relationships.

Still, thinking clearly isn't a top priority when Karin and Caleb finally touch. Sparks fly and barriers melt away as easily as their inhibitions, but can she convince him there's more to life than playing it safe?

Lucky Seven is an erotic mystery with one twist after another; Shooting the Works takes you inside a bordello where the hunky male staff caters to women customers; Good Help introduces you to a female business tycoon looking for a male assistant who can satisfy her every need; and Legend of the Cherry Blossom Sleeve tells a story of seduction in exotic, ancient Japan.

Teen Magazine published one of my first short stories when I was in my early twenties and I went on to write over a dozen novels and how-to books. My work in television includes episodes of Days of Our Lives and Fantasy Island. I’ve also written screenplay adaptations of novels, including Patricia Hagan’s Love and War, Rebecca Brandewyne’s The Jacaranda Tree and Peggy Webb’s Where Dolphins Go; and I produced (for Romantic Times) the first annual Mr. Romance Cover Model Pageant, which became the model for Oxygen’s Mr. Romance.

In addition, I’ve worked as editor or managing editor for various magazines including Playgirl, and I ghostwrite books and screenplays for doctors, celebrities and corporate moguls. Currently I’m co-authoring The Tracks, a new YA supernatural trilogy, with J. Gabriel Gates, for HCI Books. The first installment, Dark Territory, was released in July 2011. Ghost Crown, the second book in the series, just hit the stands and we’re hard at work on #3: Shadow Train. And we’re getting a lot of interest from producers who want to make it into a TV/web series.

Five Sentence Friday Fun With Megan!

tradigi / 123RF Stock Photo

Five Sentences from my WIP, currently entitled, Tumbling. Might be the title, might end up changing it. Not sure. Anyway, enjoy!!

“You. I want you.” Aiden bridged the gap between them and thrust his fingers into Dylan’s hair. He swiped his tongue across Dylan’s bottom lip, then pressed his body flush into Dylan’s. When Dylan gasped, Aiden took the kiss farther and stroked Dylan’s tongue with his own.
