Author Interview ~ Lisette Kristesen

Today, we have the joy of having a guest author hanging out with us that is going to be bringing much to the table. Let’s all give a warm Menagerie welcome and help her to feel right at home. Sit back on the couch and relax and we’ll get started. Where are you from?

Southern California originally, today reside in the Chicagoland area.

Oh, so you’ve moved a little bit. Sounds like they would be good places to grow up. So, tell us your latest news!

My first short story, Surprise Party released August 7th with Eternal Press!

How awesome is that. Huge Congrats, hon. I hope to be doing that jig in a short order of time. When and why did you begin writing?

Always had a desire to write but felt intimidated by doing it, never felt like I had the talent. Then a year ago I read an article that said writing is a craft, it can be learned. That got my courage up to start, now may not be the best writer, but with hard work can become a better writer.

Well, it would be interesting to see what article that was! I completely agree with it. There are always things to learn. When did you first consider yourself a writer?

When Eternal Press bought my short story, Surprise Party

Again, Congratulations! What a huge thing for you to have happen! Way to go, hon. Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

That we need to recognize who we are and not be afraid of it.

That is a wonderful way to look at life, and your heart will follow. What book are you reading now?

”My Sexy Greek Summer” by Marie Donovan

Never heard of that one, guess I’ll have to take a look at some point. What are your current projects?

Story for Harlequin Blaze

Well, another round of congratulations. Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.

Windy City Chapter of the RWA
It’s always a major relief to have someone Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Getting that deep POV consistently

I can understand that. Do you have any advice for other writers?

Remember it’s a craft that with hard work can be learned and you can improve. Also, write and submit.

That is something we all need to remember. What is your work schedule like when you're writing?

Write from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. and the revise at night and do emails.

Not a bad schedule to stick to. Although…. 4 am would have me screaming bloody murder for my caffeine! When did you write your first book and how old were you?

Laughing now and not telling.

LOL, fine be that way. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

How insecure we writers are, no matter how successful you may be, we are a twitching group.

Oh, we’re all very insecure. Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Read all genres, go to workshops, and write and write. Also, find a small group of critique partners.

Excellent advice. And now for the “Absolutely Nothing to do with Writing questions: What were you doing at midnight last night?

Sleeping, just got back from the RWA National Conference in Washington DC.

Yes, well, sleep is a rather necessary thing. What is your favorite animal?

Love dogs, don’t think I could live without them.

Have you ever cried during a movie? Oh Please, yes. If yes, which one and why?
Nights in Rodanthe, well don’t want to spoil it but let’s say what would you expect from Nicholas Sparks, eh?

Are you a morning person or a night person?

Definitely a morning person, I like to write from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Do you like thunderstorms?

Absolutely love them.

Thank you so much for hanging out with us today on the couch. We look forward to hearing more from you. Don’t be a stranger!

When we asked Lisette for her short bio this is what we got. :-D

My name is, Lisette Kristensen, and I am a published writer of erotica and romantica.

Through my writing, I attempt to explore all elements of erotica. It is my desire to show how the various fetish's and kink's can expand and deepen relationships, that would be presumably labeled vanilla. For I believe we all have a bit of kink in us, just waiting to bubble to the surface. I am happy to announce that my short story Surprise Party has been bought by Eternal Press. Release date is Aug 7th...

You can reach her on the web at her webpage, and also at her blog.

Surprise Party by Lisette Kristensen

Jocelyn, recently separated from what she thought was the man of her dreams, is reawakened to the pleasures and pain of the BDSM world at a Surprise Party.

He changed her life, took control of her and made her the way he wanted her, and then left her. Jocelyn withdrew from her social life, and lost faith in herself. Beth, her best friend, convinced her to attend a surprise party. Unlike any surprise party she’d ever attended, Jocelyn’s senses were thrust into the world of BDSM. Will the pleasure and pain from this experience reawaken Jocelyn’s sexuality and desire to live in a world of depravity.
